Love Alabama Alabama Series Book 2 eBook Susan Sands

I don't think there will be major spoilers but maybe...so be forewarned. The whole premise behind Emma's downfall was just silly. The conflict between Emma and Mathew was again, silly. My problem with this one was just the simple fact that u have to suspend all belief to really enjoy this and that is really difficult to do. Brother Ben is a lawyer. He 'takes' Sadie's 'deposition'...hmmm no he doesn't, he takes a sworn statement. A deposition is recognized by the court system and the one being deposed is sworn in as if they were on the stand in front of the judge. If u lie in a deposition then u can be prosecuted for perjury. Major difference between a deposition and a sworn statement. The whole situation with Matthews mother was beyond silly into ridiculous. IDK if this author is a licensed therapist or if she just thinks she is but agoraphobia is not a habitual behavior and it would certainly require more than just your son showing up to cure it. Everyone seemed to get over their long held anger and resentments way too easily Especially the mom.The way that Tad was dealt with would never be recognized by a court and he could have easily gotten out of it sighting innumerable laws that were broken to compel his to sign. (ok thats probably a spoiler, sorry). Other than that I do still love the relationships between the siblings and will most likely continue. Otherwise I would have given this a 1 star for the complete unbelievablness of this. (yes I know thats not a word)

Love Alabama Alabama Series Book 2 eBook Susan Sands Reviews

Emma Laroux is a South Carolina girl, a past Miss Alabama for a short time, and now a pageant coach. She is part of a large, close-knit family who run a venue for celebrations. Her mother is getting re-married soon and her sister, Cammie, is the host of a popular television cooking show. She does her make-up before the taping every day.

The show has a new director, Matthew Pope, who has not made a great impression on anyone since he came. There is a secret that Matt is keeping close to the vest, one that may impact his relationship with Emma.

Emma is also keeping a secret, one that she is not even sure about. Her former beau, the town mayor, Tad Beaumont, seems overly solicitous of Emma and is determined to keep her away from Matt. Something is not computing here. Emma has not dated in a decade, ever since she resigned as Miss Alabama right after her crowning. Something happened one night that she is not aware of, but that caused Tad to break if off from her and threaten her all these years.

Matt knows more than he’s telling. He finds himself enamored by Emma, but unable to tell her who he really is. She does not recognize him and he keeps putting it off, which doesn’t spell a good thing. Following this story as it goes along and comes to a surprise ending is a good evening’s pastime, but I found the premise a bit soft. It just didn’t ring true to me. Nevertheless, “Love, Alabama” by Susan Sands was entertaining.
I read everything from thrillers to cozy mysterie, but I need a little romance and intrigue mixed in now and then for balance. I enjoyed this story and found it hard to put down. This writer is very good at ending chapters suspensfully so that you can't find a stopping point. Other reviews have critically commented on therapist and lawyer behaviors and procedures, but these things didn't jump out at me. For we non-lawyer or therapist trained species, the book was a good one. The bad guy kept you angry and hopping, reading on to find out what happened in the end. Also would like to mention that forgiveness does happen in our world. If you don't believe that, then stop reading romance novels.
Love, Alabama is a wonderful Southern Women's Fiction story of letting go of the past, moving forward, and second chances.

Emma Laroux is a former beauty queen from Ministry, Alabama, who has a pageant coach business. Even after ten years, the secrets and lies surrounding a college incident in her past still haunts her.

Matthew Pope is a television director from New York, who comes to Ministry to direct Emma's sister Cammie's Southern cooking show. Matthew recognizes Emma as the girl that he rescued from a situation at a college frat party ten years ago, but she doesn't remember him.

Only Matthew holds the key that can unlock the truth of Emma's past and help her move forward.

Readers were first introduced to Emma Laroux in the first book of the series, Always, Alabama, which was Emma's sister Cammie's story. Now in Love, Always, author Susan Sands transports the reader back to Ministry, Alabama, with a delightful Southern tale that follows Emma's story.

Set in the small town of Ministry, Alabama, the reader follows Emma and Matthew's story as their shared past filled with hidden secrets, omissions, and internal struggles resurface with their unexpected reunion. The chemistry between Emma and Matthew is undeniable, and as their friendship develops into a budding romance, can they overcome the manipulation and lies from Emma's ex-boyfriend, Ministry Mayor Tad Beaumont, and the resurfacing of the hidden secrets from the past in order to get a chance at love?

As a fan of Southern Women's Fiction, Love, Alabama is a beautifully written story that is filled with an abundance of Southern charm, hospitality, wit, drama, humor, romance, and delicious sweet tea, that left me smiling and pleasantly satisfied. I really enjoyed following Emma and Matthew's story. I was intrigued by the mystery behind the incident from ten years ago that initially brought them together, and when you add in a sweet budding romance, emotional baggage, and an ex-boyfriend's manipulative actions into the mix, there was no denying that this story easily kept me engaged and turning the pages. I loved the connection and witty banter between Emma and Matthew; the rich description that captured the essence of the small southern town setting and its citizens; a host of engaging secondary characters; and all the drama, intrigue, and romance that easily made Love, Alabama an enjoyable story that left me wanting more.

Disclaimer I received a copy of the book from the author / publisher in exchange for my honest review.
Good moving story that keeps you reading even when you should stop. Great series of you like series. Can read them independently too.
